Points of Departure is a nomadic talk series curated by ZoĆ« Taleporos and Pablo Guardiola that brings together cultural producers from the Bay Area and abroad to  discuss source material for projects or topics of interest that are peripheral to their practice.

The second edition of Points of Departure at Real time and Space is centered around Science Fiction, Horror, and Fantasy. Five artists have been asked to give 20 minute presentations on a sub-genre of one of these categories in an attempt to showcase their non-art-based knowledge from their unique perspective as arts practitioners. The goal is not to have the presenters talk about their own work, but to give them an opportunity to discuss other interests/passions that may or may not inform their projects.

Artists presenting include: Elizabeth Bernstein, Michelle Blade, Matt Borruso, Luke Butler, and Conrad M. Meyers II.
